Amid shouts of “What about free speech?” from the audience, the Allegan Police Department ordered the event shut-down.   School officials notified police that they had received a letter complaining about the event from Dawud Walid, Executive Director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MI).   The letter asked the school to disallow the event despite an existing contract.  CAIR was named as an unindicted co-conspirator in the largest terrorism funding trial in U. S. history, U.S. v. Holy Land Foundation.

As a result, the Thomas More Law Center (TMLC), a national public interest law firm based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, announced today that the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR- MI), its Executive Director, the City of Allegan, the Allegan Police Department and the School District were named as defendants in a thirty-four page civil rights lawsuit filed in the Federal District Court for the Western District of Michigan, this morning. The claims included constitutional and contract violations.

 Richard Thompson, President and Chief Counsel of the Law Center commented, “It’s amazing how much clout CAIR has with the political establishment of both parties in Lansing and throughout Michigan and the nation.  This, despite the fact that CAIR has its roots in the Muslim Brotherhood, was listed as an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation trial, and the FBI’s  former chief of counterterrorism, noted that CAIR, its leaders, and its activities effectively give aid to international terrorist groups.”

Continued Thompson, “Press accounts make it clear that an indictment naming CAIR as a defendant in the Holy Land Foundation trial was squelched by Attorney General Holder’s office despite vehement objections by FBI agents and the federal prosecutors in Dallas.”

The TMLC federal lawsuit was brought on behalf of State Representative David Agema; a chapter leader of ACT! for America, Elizabeth Griffin; Allegan County Commissioner, Willis Sage; and Mark Gurley, one of the event sponsors.

The event in question, entitled, “Constituting Michigan – Founding Principles Act” took place on January 26, 2012 at an Allegan High School auditorium which had been rented by Willis Sage.

The purpose of the event was to inform the public about the importance of honoring the United States Constitution, to recognize the internal threat to America posed by radical Muslims and the dangers to our free society caused by the imposition of Sharia law.

At first the Allegan police chief police indicated he shut down the event because of threats to one of the speakers, Kamal Saleem; however, shortly thereafter, the chief admitted to a reporter that there was no specific threat to the event and no real danger at all.  In fact, no specific threats of violence relating to the event were received by the City of Allegan, its police department, the Allegan Public School District or Allegan Public High School.

Police gave as their reason, the appearance of one of the featured speakers, Kamal Saleem, a former Muslim terrorist who converted to Christianity.  Saleem has spoken at numerous high schools and universities, Christian churches and Jewish temples across the nation.  He has also spoken at the U. S. Air Force Academy, Michigan’s State Capital, and Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan.  At no time before the Allegan event or afterwards has an event where he has spoken been shut down by law enforcement.

Sage notified the Allegan police chief ten days before the event and invited him to check out the background of Saleem, which he never did.

 State Representative David Agema is an elected State Representative for the 74th District serving in Michigan’s House of Representatives.    He is a sponsor of  HB 4769 entitled “Restriction of Application of Foreign Laws Act” (based on the American Laws for American Courts Model Act), which bans the use of foreign laws including Sharia law, by courts and administrative bodies of the State, when those laws conflict with fundamental rights  protected by the Constitutions of the United States and the State of Michigan.  Defendant Walid, is an outspoken opponent of HB 4769.

Elizabeth Griffin is a chapter leader for the organization, ACT! for America, a non-partisan, non-sectarian organization whose mission is to give Americans concerned about national security, terrorism, and the threat of radical Islam, a powerful, organized, informed and mobilized voice.  Griffin promotes the “Constituting Michigan – Founding Principles Act”, which would require Michigan public schools to teach the history and Constitution of the United States.  Griffin also guides and mentors chapter leaders for various chapters of the ACT! for America organization, as well as educates concerned Americans about the threat of Islamic Sharia law to our system of law in the United States.

Willis Sage is a County Commissioner for the County of Allegan, Michigan.  Sage is the author of the “Constituting Michigan – Founding Principles Act,” which would require Michigan public schools to teach the history and constitution of the United States.  He organized the event and rented the room at Allegan High School where the free speech event was held.

Plaintiff Mark Gurley was a sponsor of the event and paid for the airfare of Kamal Saleem.  He is also an advocate of HB 4769, “Restriction of Application of Foreign Laws Act” (based on the American Laws for American Courts Model Act), sponsored by Plaintiff Agema.

Defendants’ pretextual claim that the free speech event needed to be shut-down for safety reasons subverts the true cause for halting the free speech event: complying with the demands of CAIR.

One of the first pennies ever produced by the U.S. Mint was put up for auction Thursday night and reportedly sold for more than $1 million.

Bids for the 1792 Silver Center penny reached $1.15 million Thursday night, according to Heritage Auctions, which conducted the sale. The U.S. Mint itself was founded in April, 1792.

If you don’t have $1.15 million on hand, there are more affordable rare coins available. The Canadian Mint recently began selling a limited-edition glow-in-the-dark quarter featuring a dinosaur skeleton for around $30.

And the website ThinkGeek offers electromagnetically shrunk quarters for $25, or 100 times their actual value as currency.

ABC News reports that the rare penny is made of copper with a small silver plug at its center. It was an experiment by the then-fledgling U.S. Mint, which shelved the penny before it could go into mass circulation. The U.S. Mint determined the penny was too large and heavy for practical use.

Todd Imhof at Heritage Auctions told ABC that unlike today’s legal tender which bears the inscription, “In God We Trust,” the copper-silver penny reads “Liberty Parent of Science & Industry.”

“At the time, industry and science reflected an enlightenment mindset,” Imhof said. “People believed freedom of thought and industrial growth would bind and unify the new country, not religion or God.”

An anonymous collector who has owned the coin for 10 years sold the penny. “With collectible items, for an item to sell for over a million dollars it is an unusual event,” Imhof said.

However, Imhof also said a coin of the same type sold for close to $3 million over a year ago. Still, the $1.15 million sale is one of only 30 $1 million-plus coin sales in history.

Shuttle Discovery:

Discovery was lifted and placed atop a NASA Shuttle Carrier Aircraft (SCA) today in preparation for its departure to Dulles International Airport in Sterling, Va., on Tuesday, April 17. The Shuttle Carrier Aircraft, designated NASA 905, is set to back out of the Mate/Demate device at the Kennedy Space Center Shuttle Landing Facility tomorrow morning around 7:30 a.m. Discovery is set to just after sunrise and arrive in the Dulles/Washington, D.C. area around 10 a.m. Discovery will be moved to the Smithsonian’s Udvar-Hazy Center near Dulles for permanent public display on April 19.

NASA’s space shuttle fleet began setting records with its first launch on April 12, 1981 and continued to set high marks of achievement and endurance through 30 years of missions. Starting with Columbia and continuing with Challenger, Discovery, Atlantis and Endeavour, the spacecraft has carried people into orbit repeatedly, launched, recovered and repaired satellites, conducted cutting-edge research and built the largest structure in space, the International Space Station. The final space shuttle mission, STS-135, ended July 21, 2011 when Atlantis rolled to a stop at its home port, NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

As humanity’s first reusable spacecraft, the space shuttle pushed the bounds of discovery ever farther, requiring not only advanced technologies but the tremendous effort of a vast workforce. Thousands of civil servants and contractors throughout NASA’s field centers and across the nation have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to mission success and the greater goal of space exploration.

Why I am Running: the System is Broken, the Economy is Broken, and Corruption is the Cause
I recognize that our current system of government and our financial system are broken. They are broken because the rule of law and many of our rights, which are supposed to be guaranteed by our Constitution, have been lost.
The “little guy” has lost his voice because it has been drowned out by moneyed interests, be they banks or other industry.
Most people do not begrudge others’ their fortunes and success when it has been earned in a legal manner. Yet, most folks are rightly outraged when certain persons steal from the general populace by either engaging in illegal activity or purchasing special exceptions to the laws that apply to the rest of us. When certain persons buy favoritism from elected officials and profit off of our hard work, we all ought to be outraged. This is not capitalism, it is fascism.
I intend to put the common man’s voice back into our government and for it to be on equal footing with that of those who wield big money. This is what our founders intended. Everyone has concerns and no one’s concerns are more important because they come with money attached.
I will return government power to the people by:
1. Making my office completely open and transparent.

2. Initiating a commission that will expose the cronyism that is at the root of our financial system’s and government’s corruption.

3. There will be prosecutions of those who have broken the laws. Our system only works of laws are applied EQUALLY TO EVERYONE. This means the laws that apply to the “little guy” also apply to those who, with their big money, are able to buy a Congressman.

4. I can’t be bought. I am here to equally represent everyone in the 11^th District of Michigan, not just those with money. If someone with a lot money agrees with my stance on an issue, they are welcome to contribute. If someone with relatively little money agrees with my stance on an issue, they are welcome to contribute as much effort or money as they are able. Be assured, though, I will not change my stances based on who offers to pay me off.

5. More government is not the answer to a failure of government; therefore, I will work to minimize the power of government over the everyday lives of the citizens of the 11^th District. Everyone has the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, without government interference.

You have to crawl before you walk. If you don’t know where you are going any road will get you there. If at first you don’t succeed, try and try again. The list can go on of saying that people tell their kids, use with their co-workers, and give to others as business advice.

The key to any successful venture starts with taking first steps. Along with a combination of a good product, solid leadership, an effective plan and a little luck, the best of the best can succeed in America.

G1NBC is regarded by some as a large company. Others see it as a model that is unsophisticated and not clearly defined. Still others see it as an impossible and improbable venture to try and make local media using local dollars and compete with big media conglomerates.

We at G1NBC take our local motto of “Serving Your Local Hometown” seriously. That is why you see it on all of our Affiliate Station Sites.

The Global 1 Network Broadcasting Company exists to use media to positively promote and spotlight individuals, activities, and events in local communities in our world.

This promotion of local talent and networks will impact the way the world watches TV. Thank you for those supporters out there who know where we are going. We appreciate your contributions to our ongoing efforts.
